The app was useless

The app lacks the ability to display information before you are actually connected to your network. In my case, after various attempts, it kept saying that my network password was incorrect and I am 100 % sure it is correct. The app doesn’t display the information of the network it is trying to join. It might well be my neighbor’s network.

Hands Down Worst App I Have Ever Used

This is by far the worst app I have ever used. Paired with a $350 velop router that barely ever worked it’s just perfect. Any time you have to update anything the app will just freeze and not work. No loading screen, no loading icon, no error message nothing. Using from the newest iPhone and tried re-installing multiple times so not the phone. I eventually threw the router in the trash and bought a new one because the app would not let me sync the nodes together. The worst part is the velop did not support management through the web so you are forced to use this awful app. Would rate 0/5 if possible.

Needs Work

Frequently has issues loading and often depends on a wifi connection to help you troubleshoot, which is counterintuitive considering you’re probably opening up the app because your having connection issues.

Love Linksys Mesh

I have been using Linksys mesh networks since they came out 10+ years ago. Best answer I have found to have a blanket of high speed wireless access though large home and yard. I my experience it works better to install nodes one at a time vs all at once. The app allows both, but installing one at a time seems to work better and you get back on line faster.

Why is This System so Terrible?

How is it possible for a company as big as “Linksys” to provide such an expensive product that, simply put, does not work. My situation: I purchased the Linksys system to run and integrate into HomeKit (Apples SmartHome App). As is advertised by Linksys, it’s able to be added into the SmartHome. I purchased 1 pack of 3 and 1 pack of two; 5 nodes in total (2 are hardwired Ethernet) that should easily cover 1100sq foot area I have. Never once, not one single time, have I been able to have all 5 connected at the same time. The result, cascade of pandemonium in the SmartHome, devices going offline completely, some unable to connect at all. Now, I should mention that after multiple complete resets of the system, hours on hold with Linksys CS, minutes spent speaking to CS representatives for no result. Additionally, several online reviews as well as other users here seem to experience a wide variety of these problems to no end. So Linksys, Why is this product so bad? I have given up with it and have been unable to get a refund for the overpriced paperweights they now are. What did end up working magnificently was: AmpliFi Alien WiFi 6 WiFi System (only 2 nodes!) Since the initial switch and setup of AmpliFi I have not had a single issue, except for one: Not getting a refund from Linksys.

Almost useless.

Slow, glitchy, unreliable. Need I go on?

Linksys Hydra

Very easy to setup router with the app.

Bandwidth indicator per device needed

Good app but I wish it could indicate the amount of bandwidth each active device is using.

New owners not supporting app / routers

Since CISCO sold Linksys, the new owners have not invested in updates and software. The app routinely crashes (I have Linksys Velop 6E.). The routers are sometimes slow. When an error condition occurs, I have to figure it out (and it involves like restarting all the units manually). The app crashes all the time. It hasn’t been updated in months. (the firmware updates stink and are infrequent, too).

Terrible App

Ive never used such a slow app to configure 3 nodes of a mesh network. This process has been at it for well over an hour.

Consistently wrong

Glitchy the support folks call it. No kidding. So difficult to get consistent accurate connection information about nodes and devices.

Only works when it wants to

The app only works when it wants to. Terrible to use

App is horrible!!!

The app is so slow, so difficult to use/understand. Terrible. The mesh network works so well when its fine, but if you have to reset your network for any reason, set aside several hours. Really making me consider switching to something else.

Good and bad

What I love is the ability to track all your devices that are connected. What is bad is renaming or changing icons for each device takes many, many tries. Otherwise you get the infinite spinning circle with zero results.

Unreliable

I can’t count how many times I have had to go through the list of my connected devices and rename them and reassign avatars for them because the my previous settings disappear and the app program renames them to some random device with some random avatar or loses the name and avatar on one device and switches the name from another device to that device. For example, the name for my cellphone has been lost and gets switched to the name of my daughter’s cellphone and then my daughter’s device ends up with some random name and avatar. I gave the app 2 stars because I can still connect to my router and change my security.

Terrible App (That used to work)

This app used to work great, but something changed over time. It has gotten so bad at this point that it’s pointless to use. Nothing works the way it should, and I don’t trust the information it gives nor rely on it to do what it’s supposed to. Has LinkSys just given up on supporting this app!?

Horrible App

The app is honestly so bad that I had to switch to a Deco system just so I could use parental controls and other features. It used to work fine but you cannot change anything anymore. If you try to save something it just says couldn’t save and goes back to normal. I’ve tried to delete and reinstall but nothing helps. There hasn’t been an update in a very very long time I assume they just quit supporting it.

Doesn’t Work

The app does not work. It has not worked for most of 2024. It looks like they do not intend on releasing an update. This is the last Linksys product I’ll be purchasing.

Freezes

This app is supposed to make it easier to manage your WiFi. If you just want to look at what’s connected, this is adequate if you don’t have a computer hard wired to the router. However, if you try to use it to customize anything, be prepared for freezing, crashing, and all kinds of errors. Both my iPad and iPhone are newer and up to date, but this app seems to just not work.

Frustrating

The app is slow to load and slow to respond, if it responds at all. You can’t search for your devices by ip or MAC addresses so you have to open each one if you want to change the name/icon. Also, when you change the name or a connected device, it doesn’t stick. Extremely frustrating experience

Hasn’t worked in months

Longstanding user here and one day the login began an infinite loop, not logging me in. I tried the router password and it to was sending me in circles. Impossible to troubleshoot my Velop nodes when I can’t even login.

App hasn’t worked in a long time

App constantly logs you out. And 90% of the time, even after entering correct credentials, it still shows you the login screen. The app is completely broken and has been like this for a long time now. Clearly this is an abandoned project. I recommend NOT using Linksys products.

Information Technology

Easy to use application

Doesn’t work anymore

App hasn’t worked in months now.

Very good once set up

The app has some issues which made me think my device was defective. Wouldn’t load or couldn’t connect via the cloud. After uninstalling and installing again, everything worked perfectly.

This app is just awful

The information provided is incorrect. Cant change icon (shows Fire TV as a cell phone). The app is just plain awful.

What I think

I think so far I love the router

App used to work well

I have used this app for years, and it worked well for some time, but now is all but useless. It barely connects to my router (Max Stream AC5400 MU-MIMO) before crashing and going back to the login screen. After forty attempts to login (using router password, not wifi password) I finally get in to my router main screen. For fifteen seconds. Then the app crashes and goes back to the login screen. I then repeat this cycle of entering the password and after a short time circling back to the login screen as and endless loop of wasted time. It’s enough to make me want to throw the router away. The only way for me to access my router is through a desktop computer and the IP address. I wish this app worked for me like it used to but now it is completely worthless.

Not iOS 18 compatible

App needs a lot of work was barely usable to start with but now it won’t even work with new iOS updates. Pretty pathetic to spend so much money for routers only to not have them function properly due to lack of app developments

Poor UI function

Many buttons in the app take like four times to click so it seems like it’s super frozen and buggy. Unfortunate it appears Cisco has funneled all users into this one-size-fits-all amateur admin UI. Please allow option for admin to use the traditional network configuration UI console, and amateurs can use this.

Logs out on App update

Absolutely stupid to logout users whenever App is updated

Download speed test not updating results on homepage

After I perform a speed test between the Linksys router and my modem, the results don't update on the app homepage. The issue started early November 2024.

Slow and Limited

The app is ok if all you want to do is set up a 2-3 node mesh in the default configuration- though even then it is almost painfully slow to complete each step. The bigger problem is that if you want to do something more sophisticated there is no documentation and it’s hard to trust the network status reported in the app as it is so slow to recognize changes. Why can I force it to rescan for devices on the network but not for nodes? Why is there no mention of using Ethernet backhaul for more than a daisy chain configuration? Finally, when there’s an error the only troubleshooting seems to be cycle power or rebuild the whole mesh. When there’s mesh is working it’s great but the app’s management capabilities are very weak.

Faulty app

I have had this mesh system for 2 days now and i am impressed with it so far. What i am not liking is for the 2 days the app will Not open when selected. I have had to delete the app and reinstall it each time to get it working again. Is there a fix?

Excellent

Good

Very Disappointed from Mesh experience

Over 2 years of constant connection issues with nodes. No solution found. user logout by itself.

Richard

As in IT MSO we use the MT series routers for residential applications and with only minor glitches they seam to work great. The application is user friendly and we can remotely control the device.

7 months with no update. App is buggy.

The app is useful for getting your Linksys system set up, but once that’s done it’s basically useless. The system can never accurately show which devices are connected, it thinks some devices are using Ethernet when they’re connected with WiFi, “times out” when trying to rename a connected device, among other small issues like having a bright white screen for the home view and then a dark-mode type settings screen. When going to write my review I noticed that the app hasn’t been updated in 7 months. That’s an incredibly long time for a major wireless / router brand to not apply bug fixes or feature updates. I’m very disappointed in the lack of care regarding the app. It’s essentially useless because it’s completely unreliable. There’s also no way to directly contact Linksys, their contact site pushes you toward their FAQs, which don’t address the issues I’m seeing, or to reddit, of all places, where anyone can comment. There’s no way to submit a bug report or suggestion to Linksys. To improve: Patch/update the app so you can reliably manage and rename devices. Ensure the app accurately and reliably reflects how the devices are connected. Add a section in the app to report feedback or report bugs; allow the report to take photos or videos that can show the issue. Allow a dark mode or light mode option for the app so there’s a consistency in the user interface.

Slow and Unresponsive

I have a new Linksys Velop Pro 6E, two base system. Setting it up with the app was PAINFUL and I’m extremely tech savvy. Every change made to any aspect of the router, even just a simple renaming of a device on the network, causes the app to be unresponsive and or just stay on the black loading screen. The UI is logical, but underneath it is either a port of an app not coded in Swift or an HTML 5 web interface that masquerades as a native app, but either was this app is clunky.

Setup Painful but features cool

If it worked properly would be a really good app as the features and controls are pretty good. I have a velop mesh network that resets the very time the power goes out & it is a huge pain to set up again using the app

Buggy

Parental controls work poorly, device names and types are inaccurate and when you try to rename devices the app shuts down; unable to clear log of old devices. Required to force close the app if it’s running in the background and you need to open it back up.

Not find router

I try several times whit routers wifi 6 new and never detect the router i have to go to the web page to do it

This app almost never works and makes getting a different brand of router worth it

Title.

I wish

I wish that the app was as good as the Internet and nodes. Nodes run great. Internet runs great. App is the WORST. Loses connection PERMANENTLY with nodes after perhaps a year. True with both Linksys node systems I’ve had. Resetting password, rebooting router doesn’t work. Total garbage. Again luckily the nodes work themselves just an app fail…

It’s Trash!

Waste of time. Wouldn’t accept password. Said I was connected to WiFi, but then said upgrade password. I did, but it said I’m not connected to WiFi, so cannot update password. I went back, and it said I was on WiFi. I started over, same problem. ?!

Please add the following feature

Hi Great app - only if you can add data limit for specific devices or users, under parental controls Thanks

Can't believe how badly this app works

I don't understand how this app has received so many good reviews. When you make a change, you have to hit save to commit the change. Perhaps 3/4s of the time after a minute of a progress display, the save would fail. The app has frozen up numerous times just today as I set up my new network. I've had to stop and reopen the app maybe 8-10 times.

The App Needs Work

I had a mesh system for several years and d have used this application. The application crashes a lot, does not open, delayed responsiveness. With each update I hoped it would get better but the app did not. I think it a concept to manage WiFi from a mobile device. Unfortunately the app missed the mark.
